I'm 14 and I started my period about two years ago. I don't know why, but I havn't had a period in about 9 months now. I've been to the doctor several times now, and he suggested that I see a gynecologist. I'm kind of nervous because I don't know what to expect. What do they do?

Because it would be your first time the dr may actually talk to you before doing an exam. But as the other poster said the exam isn't all that bad and if it starts to hurt you can ask the dr to stop if they decide that they must do this and above all else relax.

As the other poster said talk to your mom as well about this issue and if you can't talk to her about it go to an adult friend that you have a good and trusting relationship with to help you thru this.

I hope you get an answer to this issue hun.

They will do a pelvic exam, which isn't bad at all. They just insert a speculum into your vagina for a few seconds just to check things out. It may be a little uncomfortable, but it isn't painful. I was so scared my first gyno visit, I had my sister go with me, but it wasn't even that bad at all. Just make sure you are relaxed, and don't think about it too much, it is over before you know it :) you can bring someone with you too if it would make you more comfortable. The gyno will talk you through it and make sure you understand everything, and they will not insert the speculum until you say you are ready. They are very reasonable. Goodluck :)

talk to your mom about what they do . This is not the place to be getting this information from anyone can tell you things that is not appropriate to do on here. You really need to talk to your mom about this sitution, that is what she is there for is to talk to and be a mom and a friend. Good luck. Be safe.
