to clarify some confusion among this forum among eligibility for national team for international competitions:
1. You must be a citizen of the country AND
2. You can not have capped for another country on the SENIOR national team(ie.. the national team that competes in the famous World Cup that was just held in Germany this past summer)
Like Kaka may be an Italian citizen now but he still cant play for Italy as he has already played a match for Brazil's senior national team.. US used this by playing Freddy Adu on the senior national team in a match; thus now he can ONLY play for the USA
Regarding Becks, hes obviously already played for Englands senior national team and thus cant play for any other national team other than England.. However the manager(McClarren) has not selected him and thus is not playing for the national team and with his departure to MLS, Beck's international career has likely concluded.

Beckham can only play for England internationally. His England career may well be over as he was dropped from the team by the current English Manager / Coach.. In club football he is about to play for The Los Angeles Galaxy in Major League Soccer in the US. Before that he played from Manchester Utd and Real Madrid.

His national team should be England, he plays for where he was born. I don't know if there is any rule changes lately that allows for changing teams. That's why during world cup training you heard about lots of players leaving MLS briefly to go to their national teams. Just because they play in the US doesn't mean that's their national team. By the way, David Beckham's wife is smokin hot

If he ever gets called up again, it will be for England. Since he has already capped for the England senior team, he can't switch national teams.

He can ONLY play for England because he's already played for them before.

You are only allowed to play for you birth country or the country your parents are from, but once you play for one you can't play for any other.
I think some people on here need to re-read the question and see that the question was which NATIONAL team he'll play for, not which LEAGUE team.

He can only play for England. Once you play for one nation you can no longer play for another.

duh!! He is playing for Galaxy in the US.

He announced his 5 year deal with a contract worth about 50million US dollars.

However, he just played a single game for Real Madrid after his absences of 6 games. He scored 1 free-kick to tie the game. But back to the question, he is going to play US's team, Galaxy starting Aug as his first MLS debut as the season begins in Canada.
