I've determined that I crave social interraction and like to be in the spot light way too much for accounting! I just can't figure what else I can do with my accounting degree. It's perplexing. I like to travel, I like attention :0), I am a whiz at interviews (so maybe I'd be good at recruiting) - I just don't know. Any ideas!?

Maybe you need to work for the IRS or your state tax agency. I know a few people that work or have worked as Auditors.

Auditors get to travel, work in different offices and meet with new people.

If you are good at interviews then you would be good at talking with people and asking them about their bookkeeping/accounting practices. And if you LIKE accounting this maybe something to consider.

One of the Auditors I work with has a daughter that got an accounting degree and then got a job at NASA. She is going to be traveling to several different countries for training and workshops. By the way he talks it sounds exciting!

I've worked a few year in the banking industry (bank/credit cards/insurance) and there were a lot of accountants working in different areas. If you "crave social interaction", I would suggest you look into being an account manager. Because a huge part of banking is credit and credit process (at least for businesses) require in depth knowledge of accounting, which most people lack, you'd have an advantage there.

If you have a good knowledge of personal taxes, you will also have an advantage working as a private banker. That will maximize the "social interaction", since you're bound to manage at least 50 clients. It could be as much as 500, but that wouldn't rally be private banking anymore.

A good understanding of tax laws and how they affect corporations and also how P&L reports and managerial reports work will work in your favor if you want a back office job as product manager. That means structuring and maintaining products like leases, funds, CD etc. You will have to interact with internal areas such as IT and sales, for example. It is actually a pretty cool job.

Hope this helped. I'm sure you'll get plenty of other ideas.

Go to work on Wall Street. Being an accountant is the easist way to get your foot in the door at a investment firm. Then work your way into trading. That should keep your blood pumping.

You can do people's taxes to pick up extra money, you can also work at a bank, you can apply to work for the government such as the IRS when they go in and audit books.
