Perhaps it may just be the list of sports you're looking at.
I would, however, consider them sports if it's for competition. Cheerleaders do work hard when it's for the competitions, although they are not given the same respect as, oh say, football or basketball players, which is probably due to the fact that most people don't see what's behind the scenes at competitions and what not. Many people just think cheerleading is an extra-curricular activity that helps kids stay active.
Gymnastics, on the other hand, is the same situation, just without the cheering at games. They have competitions to go to, as well, and have to work extremely hard to win. Most people understand what they have to go through to be able to compete and win, so they don't feel it's a sport so much.
It's all about the point of view, really.

That is a good question. I would think cheerleading and especially gymnastics would be more of a sport than golf. It's full of endurance and competition just like any other sport. Aparently people who have previously posted have never been or tried anything in cheerleading. Gymnastics is extremely hard and people who say it isnt a sport should try to join it sometime.

majority of the solutions are probable thinking approximately sideline cheer. All celebrity cheer or aggressive cheer is plenty, plenty diverse. Sideline cheer, you stand on the realm lines perform a little cheers and chants positioned some mediocre stunts up and do a dance and you're carried out. all celebrity cheer, you spend all 3 hundred and sixty 5 days training for those 2 minutes and 30 seconds on the mat. specific you probable could no longer circulate in a wellbeing center and on your first day throw a status tuck and dealing finished yet adult adult males improve greater rapidly than women. Then there is stunting. you will desire to study perfection earlier progression. study it step via step and im specific a nicely geared up guy would desire to do the common stuff effective yet as quickly as you get into your finished ups, a million a million/2 ups, swap ups, tick tocks, ball ups, and so on even the biggest adult adult males could have worry. it fairly is basically a fragment of cheerleading. the recurring consists of status tumbling, jumps, stunts, working tumbling, baskets, pyramid, dance/motions, and a few situations a quick cheer. all of it is going into this small yet efficient element referred to as a recurring. please circulate and attempt discovering the recurring and preforming it 3 hundred and sixty 5 days around earlier you're making such rapid judgment.

just a side note to anyone who says gymnastics or Cheerleading isn't a sport.. shut up
I did both and they should be considered a sport... they take a lot more talent than any other sport does..
I've played basketball, soccer, baseball and powder puff football and cheerleading and gymnastics took more talent than I had and I OWNED at basketball so you can't say cheerleading isn't a sport
they should be listed... look under recreation bc they are usually considered recreational activities instead bc people don't think jumping, flipping or shouting take talent- which they do

I'm with you! My daughter is a cheerleader and it's tough! It's not like the old days...it's very athletic and strenuous...keep getting the word out...people will eventually listen. I give a lot of credit to the cheerleaders of the world...hang in there, every dog has it's day!

Those aren't sports! Defiantly not exhausting!
Try playing football sometime, or various other sports...or how about being a jockey on the back of a thousand lbs. animal going around 40 mph? THAT, is exhausting and THAT, is a real sport! :)
Cheerleading...puhhhhleasssseeeee....
