I am currently a high school student very interested into becoming a nurse, more specifically a pediatric nurse. i have looked at several colleges online and have my schooling planned out. i was just wondering what are your likes and dislikes about this job? what do you get paid, roughly? and what steps in high school and college did you take to get where you are now? also, what are your daily tasks? i am not looking for just pediatric nurses but any type of nurse along these lines. thanks for any reply that can help me make my career choice!

Start with being a nursing assistant and develop your clincal experience from that and then move into medical assistant's training so you can begin to gain a lot of hospital and clinic experience and then apply to an LPN program if you can't afford to take off the two years for nursing school and get into a school that allows you to get a BSN and then add on the specialty so you'll have a lot of hospital and clinic experience. I can recommend a good agency to go through when you want to start working as a CNA. Drop me a message and let me know so I can give you the information.

This is a very stressfull profession that doesn't pay well. You are constantly on your feet for 13 hours and it's just not fun. Please chose a profession that is not traditionally "female based" you will have a better salary and a better life --not to mention a real lunch break. Sorry to be so jaded. It's just my opinion but I wished someone would have said this to me!
