I know the normal "it's too repetitive" answers but why do people either love or hate techno music? There seems to be no in between. I hated it at first then after about a week of forcing myself to listen to it I was hooked.

It's like ANY kind of music.
Some people hate techno, because of what you said - it's too repetitive.
Some people hate rap because all they talk about are b*tches and hoes, drinking, bling bling, and how much money they have.
Some people hate country because it's just a bunch of cowboy hat wearing guys whining about how they girl left them.
Some people hate heavy metal because it's just "screaming".
ANY kind of music is going to have someone hating it. I personally listen to trance music but I also listen to heavy metal (I guess it's sort of a weird combo). I wouldn't say my boyfriend loves what I listen to, but he respects what I like and he even likes some of the songs I listen to.
He listens to hip hop, which I am not a huge fan of, but I don't hate in any way. He even got me into a few songs and artists which aren't too bad.
It just depends on a persons idea of what good music is and what they prefer to listen to.

i do no longer hate techno. I hear to 3 genres/subgenres of it. i'd desire to assert however, that fairly some the time they do no longer sing, via fact oftentimes they're terrible vocalists, those digital/techno musicians. yet, i do no longer think of you're meant to be listening to the vocals if there are any. The instrumental content cloth of it, is what i think of maximum techno-listeners like.

Because people are stupid...they listen to crap like Britney Spears, or the Fallout boys....No really, most people think it's repetitive, but if they would shut up and listen to it instead of talking crap they would realize that the build ups and breaks down are sick. No pop artist can do something that insane. Not to mention the Dj's/producers don't really give a crap about their appearance, they put all there time and energy into laying down some sick *** $h!t for thousands of people to get down too. I love drum n bass, because well I don't really know why, except it just makes me happy. There's nothing better than getting in the car going for a road trip, lighting my bowl, and jammin out for hundreds of miles, to the sweet sounds of Mickey Finn and Shy Fx...to name a few!

What I hate is when I do happen to hear a good techno song I have no idea of how to find out the name or the group. There is one that still drives me crazy in that I know I will never run across it again and have no idea what it was.

Well, it is usually insanely repetitive and annoying. Also, for some people it might be the total lack of talent required to make techno music.

theres no lack of talent for a dj to make techno music. i love techno music, preferibly house. the beat just gets into me, i dont know what it is. my friends think im crazy, then i get listening to them and then they enjoy it.

Not all folks like all music. For me, it's just not a type of music I prefer. I don't prefer to listen to RAP, HIP-OP, HEAVY METAL, some CLASSICAL music, and other types. Same goes for literature, food, drinks. It's just a personal preference thing.

Tru tru. You either like it or u don't. I can't stand it!! Although, the same argument could be made for rap music, but at least u have to have some talent. The beep bop boop crap (yes, i just said that lol) is annoying to me. I feel like I'm listening to a robot. I like the music u need talent to make. *cough rock cough* :)

I quite like techno since I could not function so well processing information without it; helps me! Not repetitious insanely but super meditative. For those who like meditative visions & warm bouncing earth rhythm.
