Highly unlikely...
neither of them are mature enough to be parents, if they are not mature enough to practice safe sex.

I was 17 when my then-15 year old girlfriend got pregnant. We have a beautiful 8 month old now, and we couldn't be happier. Unfortunately however, most 17 year olds are boys, not men, and dp not live up to their responsibilty. And that, I think, is truly sad: having a child is a joyous thing, a blessing, not an embarrasment, and definitely not a curse. If they'd give the child a chance, then they would find that they rather enjoy fatherhood. Ah well... For the sociological aspect of it, you might want to make note of the fact that American children are not fully aware of the concept of "consequences". There are not enough repercussions from any action, and they move into the legally adult age of 18 with the critical-contemplating mind of a 4-year-old, with strictly inductive reasoning.
Hope that was helpful! Justin

The answer is, most sadly, that the probability of the father staying and shouldering his personal responsibility like he should, is very low.
Most teenage fathers choose to cut & run, leaving the girl with the problem. Why? Because most teenage boys are in it for the sex & pleasure, NOT the responsibility.
They just want fun, not family. The function of the sexual act is for the precreation of the human race; of course, it is fun and nice, but the original intent should be the controlling reason.
Well, we all know that today, the primary goal is have fun, then if she gets pregnant - oops! Abortion, or run.
very, very sad.

Honestly, if you are doing a sociology paper you should try and get some scholarly answers, rather than merely using Yahoo Answers. Check out google scholar or your local library.

There are way to many variables, like income, education, social statue, religion, family values etc etc. So it is really too hard to give a real answer it really would depend on the guy but if i was to guess i would say about a 1 in 8 chance.

My boyfriend stayed with me when i was pregnant and wanted to be there... although i lost the baby he's still there. Most boys... are not men and you can't expect them to be. They are children trying to raise children. Most boys know that they can't handle the responsiblility that comes along with having a baby

Highly unlikely.
Since boys mature later than girls, a 17 year old male is more like the mentality of a 13 year old girl. What do little girls do when they are afraid of something...they run away.

The chances are slim. Too young. Too much responsibility. Too much pressure. Have to grow up too fast. No more time to go with their buddies and have fun.
