Motley Crue. They were the face of the hair bands of the 80s, which is alot of the music people associate the 80s to. Besides, I've seen them four times in concert and they totally rock.

Not so much a band but Ozzy was about the most influential. Just his voice and lyrics. Along with the dark tones and guitar (Randy or Zakk), it was a total package that influenced most of the metal out today.

Metallica or Gun's & Roses... G&R is my favorite from the 80's though ..they had smash hits.

Definatly Motley Crue..although there are alot of great ones like acdc..guns -n- roses..skid row..etc..i think they are the best
