Background - two pc's ... one in main home office connected to Westell Versalink gateway (no problem with this one) ... second pc in daughter's bedroom using wireless - g usb adaptor plugged into usb port. Keep getting a message on daughter's pc that says "network cable unplugged" and it will not connect to the internet. Had the wrong kind of usb adaptor "n" that barely received a signal, but would still connect to the internet. We corrected the adaptor issue and we are receiving a great signal now, but the connectivity is not there. I have no idea what the problem is, but we need this computer online for school. Can someone please help? I've read the previous posts for this kind of problem, but to no avail! Help!

You would always see network cable umplugged in a wireless connection device that has an ethernet card in it. This should not have anything to do with the wireless network. In your case, you might want to make sure that the encryption key (if any) and the ssid is setup correctly on your wireless connection on both devices in order for this to work.

ok, assuming the cable is solid and the link gentle is on, on your community card and also you probably did attempt yet another cable and also you probably did examine your community card is okay and also you've were given the right drivers on your community card... ok, end pulling out your hair now, take a deep breath, the position does the different end of the community cable plug into? a router, a dsl/cable modem or yet another pc? Did you reset (potential off-potential on) the different device? Is the link gentle on the different device on? If each and everything tests out ok and also you're nonetheless getting that mistakes and also you're utilising win xp, there's a impressive characteristic in XP that ought to help you (it has worked for me many situations) bypass to the administration panel (in classic mode) double click on community connections, discover the icon for community area CONNECTION, do a real click on it and choose restoration from the pop up menu.... If after checking all issues and it nonetheless does no longer paintings, i'd advise scanning for viruses or Trojans... as this stuff can interfere with networking.... do not difficulty you receives it fastened !!!!!
