Can someone tell me what the different clasifications of Corvettes are? Does L42/L48 have to do with the motors or body style? I also know there are C classifications that have to do with modifications. Can anyone out thee clarify this stuff for me?
Thanks

The L-## and LS-# designations are for the engine specifications.

The use of the C-## designation denotes the years of the body design produced. This was not an official GM notation. It was started by owners and enthusiasts and later picked up by Chevy...why fight a good idea? Currently the C-6 or c6 is being produced in Bowling Green, Ky. I presume C=Corvette.

Another designation used by Corvette is "Z-06" These models signify high performance. It has nothing to do with the year. The Z-06 was produced in both C-5 and C-6 editions.

L-48 & L-82 refer to the size/horsepower ratings of the engine for that particular year. The C number refers to a body style/production year range. Try this link for info you may want about Vettes. www.corvetteactioncenter.com I thought I knew alot, but this site helped me quite a bit.
