They are the best team ever because they've always had great talent on their team and are always conteders to win the Stanley Cup and have the most devoted, die-hard fans EVER!!!!

I love how every answer on here thus far can bash the Sabres or the Bills or Buffalo itself. She asked a simple question, as far as answering, why cant you just answer the question instead of bashing Buffalo bc we've come in second alot. Yea know what, at least we can make it that far. At least their fans still stand behind, and dont bandwagon. At least we dont sit their and talk smack about your cities. No the Sabres are not the best team ever. But they are pretty d@mn good whether you want to admit it or not. They have a great team, a great city, loyal fans, oh yea and the coach of the year last year, even though we didnt win the cup. I have to say we may not be the best team ever, but I am proud to be a BUFFALO SABRES FAN!

Look, I'm a Sabres fan, have been for a long time. And while they're the best THIS season, they're not the best EVER. But don't count cups as equaling greatness. The Canes didn't deserve to go the cup last year, let alone win it. And they haven't backed up thier win with thier play this year. Look, the Sabres are the most offensive team in the league with almost 4 goals a game. They're well rounded, team-oriented, and all focused on the same goal. Buffalo's longest losing streak this year is what, three games? But plenty of other teams in the past have done better.
The better question is Why are the Sabres the best-loved hometown team? Everyone in Buffalo, or even remotely from the region, bleeds blue and gold. Even after the horrible new logo. I'm not from Buffalo. I grew up in NW PA, in Penguins territory, and now live in DE. And while Philly fans are energetic about thier team when they're winning, and the folks in Montreal revel in the past, and the people in Nashville haven't even realized they HAVE a team, the fans in Buffalo have stood behind thier team through bankrupcy, lockout and no-name players. Because Buffalo knows you gotta believe. And the Sabres love the town back too. Need proof? Watch what happened after the Sabres lost to the Thrashers on Oct 28th. Even after the loss the crowd rose to thier feet and saluted the players. And the whole team came back out onto the ice to salute the fans. There's a rapport between Buffalo and thier Sabres no other town matches. And THAT'S why the Buffalo Sabres are the best HOMETOWN hockey team ever.

They're a strong team, not the best. They're strong because they started together, at a young age and have time to come together and mature as a team. Their team is deceptive in the sense that because they know where each other skate and make such quick passes the team looks like they move quicker then they are. The quick passing leads to a quick paced game which is hard to stop in the "new NHL" that restricts holding and anything which would limit the offense in any way. They are a team with over-all chemistry and an idea of how to play with one another, one could possibly compare them to the USA Olympic team from Lake Placid in the aspect that they are not big name superstars, but instead a group of players that play for the name on the front of their jersey, not the name on the back.
Also defensivly responsible they block more shots than MOST* (not all) teams, and have strong goaltending to support the defense when they join the rush. Once again, a very good team, but not the best, especially best ever.

#2... recognize this number??? you should its the closest any professional team from Buffalo has ever come to being the best at any sport.... #1 become this number and then consider yourself the best..but only for that year... as for Buffalo being the best team ever??? not even close.. heck even the Toronto Make Beliefs have been more successful than the Sabers..24 thats the number of championships won by the best team ever in the NHL, some of you will say 23 but I said championships and not Stanley Cups.. the Montreal Canadiens are the most successful NHL team ever and they have proven it many many times....

i'm no longer likely to flow into addressing each concept there... from advice one you at the instant are not being too reasonable. Ville Leino in simple terms signed a 6 year settlement for $27 million with the Sabres. Who of their appropriate suggestions might commerce for a participant that currenty has 3 targets and seven assists and a minus 10 score for 35 video games at $4.5 million a year... it is like asserting Montreal would desire to commerce Gomez. it is not going to take place. the ideal those communities can do in the event that they have lost complete faith in rehabilitating the participant, is to purchase out their contracts. Buffalo would not have that type of money...

The reason they're so good is because they have a good young speedy team, and I just do not understand why nobody in the NHL does this. There team relies on players between the ages of 24-28 with a couple of younger guys there and veterans and that what you need to be a good solid hockey team.

The greatest team ever were the days of rocket maurice richard for the Montreal Canadiens. Period. When your franchise has won 24 stanley cups then u can say they r the greatest team ever. I am a Bruins fan and I cant stand the Habs but they really r a great franchise.

The Sabres need to win a championship before you or anyone else can label them "the best team ever". Especially if you're going to compare them to such legendary teams as the '94 Rangers, or the '74 Flyers, '58 Canadiens, '84 Oilers, '01 Red Wings.
The list could go on and on.

They are fun to watch. They are a OK team because Miller bails their average defense out every game. They are fast and score goals, but they are not even the best team or franchise right now-let alone ever. Don't let the new point system deceive you. Sabres fans-just enjoy the season and don't get carried away.

Is this a joke!!? They are by far not the best team ever....they're not even the best team in the NHL now. The Pittsburgh Penguins are winning the Stanley Cup!
