I do not belive so, also I think it is wrong for teachers to send home homework if they do not know what every student's home life is like, some students have to work from right after school till 11 or so at night, its not fair to send that student home with alot of homework. I would hope that students do not bring aspects of their homelife into class so why should teachers bring class into the students homelifes.

people are always wondering why American kids are so far behind kids in the rest of the world.. why do kids in other countries perform so much better than American kids? is it because they are smarter? no. is it because they have better teachers? no.

it's because they study their butts off in other countries while American kids go home and play video games. so yes, homework is necessary and we need a lot more of it if we want our kids to be able to be competative in the future.. we also need parents who actually make their kids do homework..

it's not just about the materials the kids are learning. it's the very act of taking the responsibility to do something they dislike because they are required to do it. that's what American kids need a lot more of!

Yes....it gives them some kind of training to exert extra effort in order to deliver something. For me, it creates a sense of responsibility to the child and therefore it contributes to the molding of a future successful person. Although there are several factors to be considered in the formation of a successful person, early training is very relevant because the mind of a child is like a blank canvass. We should encourage positive inputs there before it begins to be influenced by other negative factors.

of course! u cannot excel without practice.i mean practice makes a man perfect so does homework makes a student perfect in studies.some people find it boring to even talk about homeworks as they think hometime is enjoyment time.but completing the given assessments on time makes a student time conscious.also it increases his hold on a particular subject.so finally one should not take homework as boring stuff but shd enjoy doing homework and should also try to avoid being a bookie or a bookworm.bye

As a teacher I say yes. It give kids the opportunity to practice what they learn in class, or it makes them think in ways not discussed during class--this especially applies to English classes. Also, kids need to read outside of class in order to be able to discuss the books in class. However, I don't think massive amounts of homework are particularly helpful.

yes!! kids need to be able to 'reason' their thoughts and answers... and that doesn't happen in the classroom with 30 other kids joining in. they need to learn to think, and work on their own, and to be able to figure out WHY they feel about things the way they do. I do think there are times when too much is given, when they can't just be kids, but I do think it is important.

yes because for most kids...doing it on their own is the final part of learning the material...without practice they wouldnt know where they fall short in so they can get help or how they would do on a test...
