I'm doing a science fair project on mold.

I placed a bread in a ziplock bag labeled as cold in the refridge.
I placed a bread in a ziplock bag labeled as hot in the closet.

Nothing happened over two weeks.
Did I do something wrong?

Ok you started out on the right track but got detoured a bit. You have one in the fridge, instead of putting the other one in the closet (depending on where you live) i would put the other one in a car, or some place where it will be hot. Plus mold needs moisture and air to grow. Just try altering the "hot" bag a bit and you should see some change in the bread.

I did this once too in school, but with the hot we got the bread real dirty like rubbed dirty hands on it and rubbed it on the floor, I dont think we sealed the bag though, and in a week or so it was green.

Ah, I think that by using ziplock bags, you deprived the mold of oxygen that it needs to grow.
Or you used bread which contains preservatives, which would also inhibit mold growth.
I guess the object was to see how refrigeration slows mold growth.

Is there moisture in the bags? Mold needs to grow on something[:
If not, is the bread stale? Stale bread might not work as well.

Good luck!

Maybe there isn't enough moisture on one slice of bread, or maybe the closet isn't warm enough.
I would expect no mold in the fridge,
Try dipping about 1 inch of the bread in water and try one in fridge, and one on kitchen counter

Maybe you used bread with preservatives, or it is so lacking in phosphorus and nitrogen that it alone can not support life.
