I have an 89 Camaro RS and I am looking to get a new muffler. I want a loud, nice smooth sounding one. What specific type am I looking for? And are there any ones that I can order online?

Can I get one at Auto Zone or anyother auto store? Or does it need to be specially ordered?

Flowmaster all the way. Unless you're good at welding stainless, you should just go to a shop. Should run you about $150 installed. You'll love the way they sound.

Clamping is not any way to do the job, there's too much heat and stress, and the whole mess will come loose on you eventually.

OOOH; EM I've got the muffler for you. Check out Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers on line They look like a standard muffler from the outside but inside a straight non-baffled tube connects the input and output of the muffler and it does beat out the deep low mellow sound your looking for. These mufflers make a nasty growl under acceleration and again when getting out of the throttle. It's not some cheap raspy sound that the kids in Neon's and Civics's go around town bapping ans snapping. Who in their right mind would make a gutless four cylinder loud on purpose. These fly weights don't impress me.

This might sound crazy but trust me. do go to a well known muffler place. find a place that doesnt get that much business or place that a bunch of rednecks own because we dont screw people over and tell them that you want your car duelled out. tell them that you want your cataylac converters cut off if theyll doit and if not ok then tell them u want straight pipe then at the end were youre tips go theres all kinds of tips if you want chrome tips tell them you want 10in tips at a 90' angle behind each tire. I am from the south and im stationed in ky when i brought both of my trucks up here everyone loved the way they sounded so they took there rides and did samething.

A glass packed muffler will be fairly quiet at idle and the harder you stand on it the louder it gets and it's the cheapest you can buy. It's kinda "old school" but who cares about that they sound good.

Depending how much of a HotRod you want to turn it into?

Caution you need a certain amount of back pressure so you do not burn up any internal parts in the motor.
