I don't really have that bad of acne problem, but when I do get a pimple or a zit I have this bad habit of picking at them. I know I shouldn't, but I can't help it. Any advice on how I can break the habit.

The BEST treatment for pimples is prevention. By prevention I mean skin care... I am an independent consultant and can tell you that a proper and consistant skin care routine is your best defense against pimples....

You want to make sure that you are cleansing and exfoliating your face everyday, morning and night. Especially night. Make sure to remove all make up before going to bed because night time is when your face rejuvinates and repairs itself. It is also most absorbant during this time. So you want to make sure that you clean off all of the junk, oil, pollution from the air and make up from your face before going to bed. Then make sure to moisturize.

Your skin is always looking for moisture... if it can't find it your face will create more oil to try to compensate for the missing moisture (oil and water don't mix, and the oil begins to clog your pores and makes skin feel icky) Be sure to moisturize after cleansing and exfoliating, and fill your pores up with the good stuff before going to bed.

You're going to want to find a cleanser and moisturzer that you like and STICK WITH IT! Everytime you change your skin care products your face has to adjust and goes through what we call the two week "break out" period... so if you are constantly changing (buying whatevers on sale?) then you are constantly going through this period.

As for treating a pimple that you already have... DO NOT PICK or POP THEM! I know it's hard, but it your bodies way of getting rid of the clog... your best bet is to keep cleansing and exfoliating, and use a pimple cream often (3 - 4 times a day) to dry it up... if you pop it or pick at it it will cause the delicate skin on your face to break or even bruise... causing a nasty scab. Even after that there is a chance that the pimple will not always be completely out, and the scab won't heal very well with a pimple under it and it will take even longer to get rid of that nasty blemish... so HANDS OFF!

Hope this all helps!!!

I have the same habit too!
but this is what I do.
After a bad picking, I let it heal and that night, I wash with "Neutrogena 60 second Acne Wash" and do a mask that gets your oil off. You'll feel fresh and oil-free!
During school, try to clean your hands as many times as you can so it's always oil-free, clean, and moist.
It won't make it worse. promise.
oh and I like baby lotion (the pink bottle, not the white one) b/c it has less oil than most of the other face lotions.
g'luck!

ehhh i do the exact same thing you have to keep yourslef busy!!!! and just think about where your hands are all the time if you want those pimples to clear up picking at them is going to make them 10 times worse you may have terrrible looking skin for a few days but using a good product and not touching your face will clear it up and there wont be anything to pick at!

Whenever I do this, I just remind myself that touching my face makes the pimple bigger. You have natural oil and grease on your hands no matter what...the two ingredients that causes pimples! Just think about all the things you touch and then touch your face. I know it's tempting because you just want to touch it and feel how big it is...etc. But just remember! Good luck =)

Don't pick at them, if you do you get acne pits and that looks like shi@t, If it's a really bad one pop it, like if it's on your face and you got a hot date but otherwise leave it alone and let it displace itself back into the sea of your face or apply a topical cream. If you pop them u get bruises. Or do what Puff does.

There are many cheap and effective home remedies for pimples. Tomato slices, turmeric, papaya juices and home made packs will treat existing pimples and prevent further problems. More

i like to pop zits with a bobby pin. just put it a little above it and pull down. you should see the puss ( eewww) come out. then i like to use some sort of an astringent like SEA BREEZE to take the oil off my face.
my daily routine it to SEA BREEZE , moisturiez, make up and head out the door. i shower at night so that's when i cleanse my face. after i take my mascara off with NEUTROGENIA eye make up remover i like to use ST. IVES apricot scrub. rinse and repeat the morning ritual in 7.5 hours.
