The only ones who still support Bush are the fanatical lunatic right-wing fringe. They are like the psychotic deluded hard core nazis who still clung to Hitler back in 1945.

Using the last posters good examples.. I was behind Clinton's efforts in Kosovo. I didn't support very many things Clinton did but that was one of them.
I supported deposing the Taliban and Al'Queda in Afghanistan and I supported removing Saddam.
I don't like the stagnancy of the situation in Iraq and would hope its resolved soon.
But I supported the efforts. Not because Bush is a republican though.
Should it really matter what party someone is in?

There are people who support him because he is president and there are people who support him because he's Republican.
It is easy to tell which is which. Just look at whether they supported Clinton when Clinton was president. If they backed Clinton when he intervened in Haiti, when he bombed Iraq and Afghanistan, when he fought against the Serbians, when he intervened in Kosovo and so on, then they can rightly be said to back the president as president. If they whined and sneered, accused Clinton of betraying his country, intoned somberly about the foolishness of war in the Balkans or supported those insubordinate soldiers who refused peacekeeping duties because of the color of helmet they had to wear, then their support of Bush is probably somewhat partisan.
And there are some who fought Clinton but who now claim we should _all_ back Bush because he is president. They are hypocrites and fools as well as Republicans.

His support is weak. Those still supporting Bush are dead enders, the last vestiges of the last throes of neoconservatism. Sorry neocons, it is over and you will have to confess you are really closeted homosexuals and closet liberals who invaded the GOP with deceit and treachery. Neocons BE GONE.

I think you got it right in your third option: if they admitted he's wrong, they'd have to admit they made a mistake by supporting him.
They just can't tolerate the cognitive dissonance.

Because 16% of Americans would rather have someone tell
them what their thoughts are, instead of thinking for themselves.
It's either that, or they've just had really sheltered lives, just like
the president. (Totally unaware of the poor or sick in this
country - it's pathetic)

get past the 'republican/democrat' thing and understand that each person thinks for himself. frankly, i think both sides are wrong and washington needs a good spring cleaning. and i don't mean democrats. they're already messing up.
