Walnut Creek is where all the action in Central Contra Costa County is at. It has the best restaurants, best bars, best shops, and one of the best downtown business districts of all the Bay Area suburbs. People come from all over the county on weekends to shop, dine, and go out there. It's right next door to Pleasant Hill so it will be a 5-15 min commute. Everything else in the area is pretty typical suburban sprawl and very bland. WC has kind of a urban feel to it but is still suburban. There are lots of condos and townhomes within walking distance to downtown too. Everyone from the town loves it there and it's a very desirable place to live. I would definately check out Walnut Creek before deciding other locations.

If I had to describe Pleasant Hill in one word, it would be: "pleasant"

The streets are clean and leafy, the Sun Valley Mall has all the reassuring chain stores we've come to depend on, the weather is mostly sunny (though it gets really hot in summer, so get some A/C), and the BART train whisks you to Downtown San Francisco in less than one hour. As the housing is mostly single-family, there will also be plenty of backyard for your dogs to roam in.

However, the place isn't hip. It's definitely a soccer mom suburb where minivans outnumber all the other cars and the "nightlife" consists of your kids' Little League games or going to the Olive Garden.

It's a great place to settle down and raise a family. However, if you like to go clubbing or anything like that, you'll need to move much closer to the city.

Nice area.. Not far from hiking trails.. Nice bike trails that run through the area.. Walnut Creek is a few minutes away.. Great places to eat, shop.. Concord has a nice Mall.. S.F. is not that far away either by car or the rapid transit system. Depending on your income... that will probably determine where you will live.. Ca is not that cheap.. The bay area is the best place to live.. You'll enjoy it..
