Actually, you are quite mistaken. The percentage of minorities in this country was not drastically different then as compared to now. The main change from then till now is that in the 50's the Hispanics numbered a few percent of the population, where as now they comprise about15% of the popualtion ( a significant, but not huge change). Blacks today still make up only about 12% of the US population and this proportion has barely changed for decades. You really ought to do your homework before posting. As for whether the 50's was a great decade, wasn't there, couldn't tell you.

Your just young and dumb or old and stupid, do your research before asking this stupid question. From what I've read and heard the whites had very twisted thinking, more than today. Than there was the hillbillies interbreeding, who moved west to work in the fields. Also, the U.S. is still the Superpower of the world.
