The Battle of Krusk in Russia in July 1943 is generally regarded as the largest land battle in history. We can compare Stalingrad and Krusk with the battles of Antietam and Gettysburg in the American Civil War. Antietam and Stalingrad may have been more "decisive" battles, but Gettysburg and Krusk were larger battles in that they involved more troops.

Two military experts, Will Murray and Allan Millett, call Krusk "the climatic battle of World War II" and "the largest battle in human history." Over 2,000,000 men were in action and it included both the largest tank and aerial actions of the war.

Stalingrad had the most people die, with 740,000 Axis dead, 750,000 Russians, many Axis captured, and countless wounded. I guess it's pretty safe to say it was Stalingrad.
