Those were the good old days. There were minorities, they just knew their place. Yes, that was before the mexican invasion, but don't mexican gangs kill blacks in record numbers? I am torn on this. Maybe mexicans are good. I know they work for cheap and I don't have to pay unemployment or taxes on them when I hire them. Good question.

What information do you have to support that the US was strong (or stronger than today) and didn't have minorities? Were there no blacks with slave ancestry in the US? What about all the Mexicans that became US citizens when the US took half of Mexico a few decades before? What about the Chinese that built the rail roads? What about the Native Americans who were forced to live on reservations, did they just up and leave? I believe that you think that there were barely any minorities is because they were kept out of main stream America. But that doesn't mean that they weren't around.

The only thing great about the 1950's was that we got through them. There was war in Korea. The Chinese rose up and routed the "allied" army. (My cousin Willie is still MIA.) In 1956 the Arabs attacked Israel and we were fearful of WW III. In 1957 the Russians sent up Sputnick and scared the Hell out of us. Then there was polio and in 1958 the worst depression since the Great Depression of 1929. War and the threat of war, depression, and disease! The 50's were anything but ideal.

I find the 1950's about as satisfying as now. I must admit that I disslike the idea of the U.S. being strong. I also wish we had more minorities than people like you.

It was a great decade for me because one didn't have to worry about child molesters and we didn't have to lock our doors at night (I lived in the country). For the minorities it was not a great decade!
