It means you made it past the first round of "trash it" and someone will actually read your application closer. You are one step closer to getting asked to interview, or if they don't have a formal interview process, at least you are closer to consideration.

It means your application was chosen out of the big stack they receive and you will probably get an interview, and if you get an interview, you may get hired, especially if they are looking to fill more than one position.

That's a good thing. Most applications don't make it out of the personnel office.
