Have tried all kinds of lip balms, vaseline etc... Still chapped, some days worse than others. In the summer they are ok but I am outside alot and I have sunburned them a few times. Maybe that is a contributing factor to the chappedness!?

Have you talked to your doctor about possible allergies? Some days my lips were so chapped that brushing my teeth was a major ordeal. I started with a GP, dermatologist and then an allergist. Nothing I did ever worked. I found relief but never a cure. We still haven't identified the culprit but mine has been narrowed to something in bakery items(usually from grocery stores) and blowing up balloons. I can't use chapped sticks with spf's. I was advised that Vaseline does not penetrate the skin, it just coats it and can actually worsen the condition. Maybe going to the doctor for chapped lips sounded like I was making a big deal out of nothing but it was the best thing I could have done.

Carmex is good (except for the taste)
My favorite is Burt's Bees Lip Balm. It's addictive.

*oh, and I read that toothpaste can chap lips, so I'm careful when I brush now, since I suffer from chapped lips too.

You could try lotion as long as you are careful not to eat it. Some kind of intensive care lotion might work for you.

However, if you are outside a lot, you will probably have dry lips no matter wht you do because of the windburn and such. My boyfriend works outside and he has perpetually chapped lips in the winter. Medicated Chapstick and lotion seem to work the best for him, but they don't heal his lips completely.

Get Palmer's Cocoa Butter in the tube from the drug store and use it as a lip balm several times a day.

Since you are outside a lot in the winter, also use it on your face once a day.

Another Carmex fan here! It really will work, given the chance. Keep one in your car, your office, your purse, your night-stand (they are very inexpensive, so stock up!) and use it every chance you get. You will notice a change within the first day or two, honest!

If you want to go pricier...any lip product containing the ingredient "Allantoin" will work wonders, but for a slightly bigger price tag!

Dry lips are an early sign of dehydration. Make sure you're drinking enough water. It makes all the difference in the world for me. And you can try something called "Bag Balm"

For one thing the reason they're dry is you need more water! Drink plenty of water then use something lighter than chapstick. It will need to be applied more often but it will work better. My favorite is Burt's Bees lip balm http://www.vitacost.com/productResults.aspx?csrc=PPCADW-burts_bees_lip_balm&N=32+1000091+2008245 OR Miso Pretty (they have a yummy pineapple!) http://www.shoprockcandy.com/miprpilipba.html OR Get Real: http://www.sesto-senso.com/blue-q-get-real-lip-balm.html#1
They're light but very effective!

Go to KMart Pharmacy (it's over the counter but they keep it in the back) and ask for (UTTERLY SMOOTH). It's a cow utter cream (but it's for people) and it's the most amazing cream for chapped lips, stretch marks, dry skin...it's a miracle cream for sure. Give that a try.

Go to Sephora or some other upscale-ish beauty place and buy Fresh Lip Sugar. It runs about $22 but it is so worth it. It's SPF 15 and it will protect your lips from all the elements.
