Is There a Best Form of Government?

In the history of mankind you only have so many types. What would you say is the best one that countries should strive for?

Democracy
Republic
Dictatorship
Monarchy
Oligarchy

Which one would be the best for Iraq? Do your answers differ? If so why are you a hypocrit?

I think in Iraq, Democracy is a pipe dream. My belief is that Oligarchy has a much better chance. They need to divide the country up into sections, however, with still a small central gov't to provide for a common defense. Josh--I think if you can come to agreement on the oil revenues though this will work. The Civil War took place because the north wanted to impose huge tarriffs on imports from Europe, which was crippling the south. Slavery was a secondary issue for our own civil war.

Democracy or republic are very similar , I think a true democracy is very difficult to sustain.But either one is acceptable.These are the ones for the people not the elite.freedom is the best policy.

No. Until individual people learn to govern themselves (to live with respect and responsibility), there is no way they can be effectively governed enmasse.

I gotta believe that if you are interested in a government that actually provides a reasonable amount of real service to its citizens, you would have to go with a socialist democratic republic similar to what they have in Sweden. The taxes are high, but the benefits to the people make it worth it.
