Johns Hopkins, in my estimation.

Matt's right. You have to follow the system. Your teacher sounds a little dumb because when I substitute doctor for various other jobs, her assignment is still retarded. Even using teacher as the career, her assignment makes little sense.

So, since we're dealing with an idiot, we have to talk idiot for her to understand.

You're in Texas? Do you know which school she went to? What's the favorite school in your area? UT-Austin, the Longhorns, is a safe bet. It's a top school, so you can just pick that and come up with reasons why it's great for being a pediatrician. Cheap tuition, top reputation, large school so good life experiences to relate to patients, etc.

I'd choose UT-Austin or Baylor. Those are the two schools in Texas with the best rep for medicine. Baylor's med school is ranked the highest, but UT-Austin is the flagship state school and really popular. We're dealing with a moron here so flashing that "Hook 'em, Horns" sign might be what it takes to get an A. Just pick that school to explain the process of becoming a pediatrician. Maybe you can teach her something along the way.

You need tolearn a lot more about how the system works. You don't go to university to become a pediatrician.

First, you have to get into a good college. Then you have to take a whole set of courses that medical schools require for admission, - really hard courses like chemistry, biochemistry, organic chemistry, physics with calculus, etc - then you have to take the MCATs which are like SATs only much harder. Then if you have gotten very good marks on all those, you can apply for medical school,. half of the good candidates who apply are turned down. The rest go through medical school for four years. After that they have to apply for residencies... if you get into a residency for pediatric medicine then you study that for three more years or so. Then you are allowed to be a pediatrician.

So, that's 11 years of school after HS.

It matters which college you go to because kids from the best colleges are more likely to be accepted at medical school. But it doesn't matter too much which medical school you go to because they all teach very much the same thing.- they have to, because in med school you have to take more national tests so all medical students have to study for those same test.

Any medical school is a good medical school and can prepare you to be a doctor.
