All I know is that, when I ask a question about my computer, I am not sure what information is needed when I ask. Possibly, some of the others have the same problem.

well, here's an opportunity to point out moments of alarm I have when visiting the mental health area.
if you really want help, it's probably not a great idea to write merely that you are depressed & what should i do. depression is a complicated issue. try to be a little more specific about your symptoms & what you are feeling.
another alarming case is someone who wrote that their kid is depressed, and has expressed an interest in suicide. what they kept dwelling on, sentence after sentence, was that the kid was smart yet getting poor grades, thus wasting his talents. although it must be hard to watch someone not live up to their potential, this is not putting one foot in front of the other. it's CRUCIAL to prevent the kid from harming himself first.
any thoughts of suicide... rather than write to Answers, call 1-800-suicide.

Most likely they are frustrated about their problems and they want to ask a question but the question don't come out the way that they want it to. Just try to be patient with other people and try to read into their question as the way it is suppose to be. Good luck

that's because they think that other people are psychics, apparently. what i hate even more are the people who obviously leave their homework til the last minute because practically every sunday this site is clogged with people asking "write an essay on the civil war. it's due tomorrow!" or "how do you solve 2x + 51y = 5 for y?". i mean, if i did that i would feel so guilty because it's just cheating! yahoo should make it a guideline that doing that is NOT ALLOWED!

Drives me crazy! Honest to God, I would like to help people with my answers in the law & ethics category. But how am I supposed to know what your fine will be for "a traffic offense" in some unknown place? We're not getting rich off these answers. We're doing it for fun and to help people with stuff we may know. Sorry about the rant.

I know!!! It's so annoying, because you try to answer the question, but there isn't enough information to even get an answer. It's like they just want to see what we'll say. I've seen so many iPod problems and questions, but I can't answer their iPod questions because they just put, "Why won't my iPod work?" It's like a pet peeve for me. I think it's because some people just don't get it. And they waste points on asking a question that'll get them no answers. It's just stupid.

Some times it's because they think there's a definitive cause, and have little background on the subject.
Most of the time it's because they're too stupid to realize we aren't mind readers.

What do you mean?? What kind of people? And what were they doing before they asked the questions? Were the questions asked on this forum or another?
Yeah, I hate that too. :D

I guess since they know what they are talkin about they expect others to know as well, therefore they give no details because they do not realize that we dont live there with them.

I don't answer those questions. I figure that if they wanted an answer badly enough, they would have taken the time to explain themselves. I'm certainly not going to waste my time trying to figure out what it is they meant.
