I have had pretty good luck with Combat 12-month baits. The idea is that the roach eats some, and takes some back to the nest and gives the slow-acting poison to his family and takes out the whole colony. I find a lot of dead roaches in the corners of my house, but I rarely ever see live ones, so I guess it's effective.

Boric acid is the strongest thing that you can use against roaches yet it is just as dangerous/safe as table salt. The professionals do not have anything stronger and the roaches cannot develop resistance to it.
Just sprinkle the powder along baseboards and anywhere else they go. They walk through the powder and track it back to their nests and it gets on all other roaches. With reapplication in a week or so you can eradicate the entire population.
It doesn't matter how clean you keep everything. Did you know that they can live off of the residue of the soap you use to clean up with?

First remove all your animals open your cabinets and close your windows to bomb. They are relatively cheap at any Dollar General store also try the traps and the gel. Boric Acid is a good way as well but it really isn't as effective as it once was due to the fact that the bugs have gotten immune to a lot of the chemicals we use. Also make sure you rinse off any liquid soap containers as they like to feed on this along with many other household items. (Especially electronics)
You should be able to get all this for under 50.00 at a DG store.
Good Luck!!!

As Dave said, the best ,and in the end probably the cheapest way, is to call a local pest management company. They have trained and licensed personnel that will target the treatment to the proper areas, reducing you and your family's exposure to toxic chemicals. Check with your local better business or chamber of commerce for reputable companies (there are some crooks out there). Also don't assume that the big national franchises are any better or honest that the small local company, it all depends on their managers.
Boric acid is just as toxic as any other pesticide when improperly applied. Read the link especially section 3.

Dont bust out the Raid, the survivors will only build up higher tolerences of the spray, get those sticky pads where you just lay on the floor, anything that walks over it is stuck for good, Crickets, mice, roaches, ants etc...
once stuck you can eaither leave them there to starve or smash em. (some roaches can live months without water and food)
These pads can be found at your local home inprovment stores (eg Home depot, Lowles) Im not sure if they sell them at the local super market, might wanna call in and ask.
Good luck, I hate roaches too.!

You can spend a small fortune in home remedies, or you can call a pest control company. Ask around for a good one in your area. It might not be a big nationally known brand, but if they work well, their reputation will precede them.
We have a company come spray the house for about 100 bucks every 6 months. It's well worth it to live bug-free!

Empty your garbage can before turning off the lights. Roaches like darkness. Your garbage is their meals. When they feel hungry, they will migrate to your neighboors house. Trust me this works well. If you choose me your best answer, I will be very grateful, b/c I have never been chosen yet, and the above was figured out by myself, not by my parents. Now, all my relatives including my parents empty their garbage cans daily. We stopped buying insect killers long time ago. Yea, trust me and please vote for me. I eagerly want more points to move to level two. Thanks.

PS its not true that you don't see them in a clean house ,they want water and food they don't care if its a clean or dirty house
