I’ve noticed over the last year or so that my heart acts up sometimes. Not really sure how to describe it but it feels like it beats hard twice maybe three times but usual twice followed by a full body air gasping except for I don’t really half to gasp for air it only feels like I do but I do take a deep breath afterwards because it scares me. Over the last couple of months it has worsen I noticed it more now while im at work and I work with ten two year olds for 9 hours a day so Im not sitting down in a chair relaxing or anything. I’m not stressed Im a very calm person “trust me you half to be to work with children.” But Saturday night while I was trying to fall asleep, I was in that mode where your almost asleep but still somewhat awake it woke me up twice and this time I did gasp for air big time. I feel asleep after I calm down about an hour or so later and I was fine the next morning. It happens more then it use too so is that a cause for concern?

Yes, it is - See your doctor as soon as you can. I was thinking Sleep Apnea, but you describe it happening during the day time as well and you're describing what sounds like a heart arrhythmia too - But that's impossible to ID without an EKG strip and a trained person to read it.

I wouldn't panic, but I would definitely schedule an appointment with my doctor as soon as I could. If it really starts to bother you, go to the Emergency Room, particularly if you experience chest pain or shortness of breath.

If you are over weight and you snore along with this gasping thing then it could be sleep apnea. Go see a doctor or a sleep specialist. Could raise your chances of heart attack. Do you ever find your self dozing off during the day when you shouldn't? That would be another sign of sleep apnea. Nevertheless you need to seek professional help. Look up symptoms on WebMD.

could be a sleep disorder, sleep apnea or related. Or it could be some kind of anxiety thing. i'm not a Dr, but i've had so many sleep studies and other exams. they had to put me on a statin (type of heart med) because my heart beats too fast during the night. they found this out during a sleep study. then they sent me home with a CPAP machine (for sleep apnea) to help with the gasping for air. bottom line, i think you should see a doctor, because what you describe does not sound normal. good luck.

My dad has the same problem called Sleep Apnea. He went to a doctor to find out what was wrong. Your heart kinda stops beating when you sleep only for a few seconds but it can get worse so get checked by a doctor and they can do some sleep tests. They send this machine with you and you try it out at home and send it back and they check the results and come up with what to do. My dad didn't want to pay so much money so he sleeps with a mouth guard in his mouth. It seems to work fine for some reason.

This is a cause for concern.
Have you told your doctor about this?
It could be sleep apnea at night (all kinds of people get it), but the fact that you get these episodes during the day is troublesome.
I wouldn't rule out anxiety even though you feel calm.
Definitely go to the doctor!

YES - you may have sleep apnea. Sleep apnea can cause death - my husband and aunt both suffer from it. Its a very dangerous condition that greatly increases your risk for stroke and heart attack. It is very importatant to see a Ear, Nose & Throat Specialist and possibly have a sleep study. It is probably more that your breathing is not correct, leading to the heart rate increase and then you gasp.

Sounds to me as if you need to increase your water intake. 6-8 glasses of water is highly recommended. You could also be having anxiety attacks. Take 2 tbls. apple cider vinegar in a glass of water 2 x day. Has 93 vitamins and minerals. Make sure you get checked out by a doctor, if this does not go away after water and acv.

that happens to me too, it means your stressing about something. It sounds weird, but trust me. Put some Lavender cream on your wrists, and inhale it. You will feel better and fall asleep.
