You make a noun plural by adding 's' or 'es' at the end. Mutated plurals are nouns that do not follow this rule. i.e. child: children, man: men, mouse: mice, etc.

A "mutated noun" refers to irregular noun forms such as: man-men; child-children; mouse-mice.
Most nouns are made plural by adding s to the noun. Nouns that end in ch, x, s or s-like sounds, however, will require an -es for the plural. Also there are specific endings for latin and greek words.

Suggest that you search yahoo under "mutated nouns" for a detailed explaination on that term and on how to make nouns plural. It's all there. Cheers,

The general method is add -s for most nouns, -es for nouns that also end in a sibilant (to distinguish from the sibilant -s.)
Hence, shrub, shrubs; bush, bushes.
I've never heard of a "mutated plural," but these folks keep changing the terms so they can keep their knowledge to themselves and shut out others who already know their stuff. The probably mean words like "One fish, two fish" or "deer," words that don't change form for plural, or words that pluralize weirdly: man/men, etc.

I've no clue how to make a mutated plural, but the English language has 19 ways to make a plural noun-- these are the most common ways as I'm not going to list them all as most are very redundant in nature.
Add S to words that end in consonants
add es to words that end in x,ch, sh
Change y to ies (not always the case with words that end in y--for example tourney=tourneys, responsibility=responsibilitiess )
Musical words only get "S" piano=pianos, solo=solos
compound words--sister-in-law becomes sisters-in-law
attorney general becomes attorneys general, etc.
