I'm a driver/narrater in Yosemites Mariposa grove of giant Sequoias in the summer months. The Redwoods and Sequoias are in the same family. There are only 75 groves of the big trees in the world. All but 1 of them are in a strip of land about 15 miles wide, and 250miles long on the west slope of the Sierras. The only exception would be the north coast redwoods. They start just south of San Francisco, and go all the way into the southern part of Oregon. The redwoods don't get as wide as the Sequoias, but they get about 50' higher. I've been told that at the new millenium, a seedling was sent to almost every country in the world. SUPPOSEDLY, the only place it would grow was Australia. I guess the earth there is much like ours. These trees can grow to 300 feet. Once they reach that heighth, they get wider. Their roots only go about 5-6 feet underground, once there, they will shoot about 100-150 feet in all directions. These trees are the largest living thing in the world. The oldest living thing would be the Bristle cone pine. It will live about 4000-5000 years. You can see them on the other side of the Sierras. The Sequoias will rarely see 3000 years. They have never died from old age, they just fall over. I hope you find this helpful. If you ever make it to Yosemite, look me up. (I look a lot like George Clooney, except for my face, hair, body & feet.) P.S. The Grizzly giant in the Mariposa grove, has a limb on it that's between 6-7 feet in diameter. That limb is larger than the trunk of any tree in the forest. It was hit 6 times by lightning back in the early 40s. In fact, lightning knocked 75' off the top, so it's only 200' feet high now.

The Truth is Out , due to a leaked internal email by a member of Yahoo staff , the real reason most ( if not all ) of Yahoo has been down at some time is because of the following , after extreme pressure from the CIA and a Federal Judges court ruling ( Judge E . Fumble ) ,Yahoo was ordered to allow access to all Yahoo rooms after a tip off from George W Bush's security advisor ( Zippy from Rainbow and his 2nd in command Bungle ) that Osama Bin Laden had been hiding in Yahoo rooms , the CIA undertook a very thorough search from room to room with sniffer dogs and several SWAT teams , ( it has been suggested that the SWAT teams were needed just in case any CIA operatives came accross the notorius booters ( a highly intelligent and motivated group of terrorists on Yahoo ) , this was though denied by the CIA . When questioned about the room closures Judge Bungle said " i dont know what all the fuss is about , i managed to use my regular room as usual " , the Judge declined to say which room but it is rumoured that the room he uses is BBW and JUDGES : 1 ...................... on the qt you heard it here 1st , pass it on ..............shhhhh .............. CIA are now in Questions and Answers >>>>>>>>>>>>> gone

Sequoiadendron giganteum and Sequoia sempervirens is readily available for sale to obtain. If there are laws prohibiting foreign flora and fauna I'm not aware of the specifics. While not native to the UK, they do quite well especially in the cool damp regions. And they have been cultivated in parks and botanical gardens across England, some planted in the 1840's. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Sequoiadendron_giganteum_%28cultivated%29_in_the_United_Kingdom

Perhaps. They are also part of the protected old growth habitat in California so I doubt they are shipping them anywhere. I know that there is a very similar tree in Japan, genetically almost the same as the giant redwood from the USA. See if they are exporting at all.

They are magnificent trees. Makes you feel small and insignificant. They have one tree that fell many years ago and is on display with the cross section showing different dates in history for the different rings on the tree. Very cool.

No, it is because we don't have anything as big as a Cadillac to take them home in.
