I am going to have to disagree. See I am 15 and I just got my learners a week ago and my parents bought me a black 2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP, and they handle great. Just because I'm young doesn't mean I can't handle the vehicle. Also it doesn't give me one temtation to do something stupid. I am smart enough to know that if you get a car you don't hot rod in it or race. I would strongly recommend it to a first time driver.

Lucy,
Thank your folks for buying a Pontiac. I manage a fleet of vehicles and have a Saturn Sky in it. (Solstice's sister car). We've had some Solstices (Solstii?) too. They're great cars, fun to drive, and handle like a dream. The only reason I'd suggest a different first car for you would be to protect you from harm in the event of an accident. You can be the best driver in the world, but if some jerk in a Hummer on his/her cell phone collides with your little car because they're not paying attention...

Not your fault, but the car doesn't offer much in the way of protection in the event of an accident.

Stay alert, and have fun.

I may be the guy you are addressing, and I hope for your sake I was wrong in your case. But, the problem isn't that the car doesn't handle fabulously because it obviously does. The problem is that with almost no experience, this car can help you get in over your head WAY too fast.

Did you know that the 0-60 time for this car is about 5.5 seconds? Heck, I don't even know the top speed. My GTO gets to 60 in about 5 seconds. At that rate of acceleration a loss of traction on one side of the car will put you in the guard rail in a hurry. Quick: What do you do when the rear end breaks loose?

If you know, and you're the rare exception to the rule, congrats on your very expensive new car. Take care of it and it will provide you with a lifetime of great times. If you're not, nothing I can say here will persuade you to get a less powerful car before you kill yourself.

Not knowing you and going by the numbers, your parents should be ashamed of themselves for buying a car like that for a 15 year old. Prove me wrong, make a post here this time next year...

Lucy, I ain't the guy your talking about but the handling and acceration will temp you to try sooner or later. However as a GM emp I commend you on choosing one of our vehicles. I will tell you this that the car you have will forgive you for cornering too fast as opposed to say a Blaser,Tahoe or other 4wd vehicle as they tip over fairly easy. Now,have you ever heard of SCCA racing? Its a course laid out in a parking lot, kinda like a road course It is safe as the only thing you can do is spin out and not hit anything but orange cones. So ask around about the parking lot road courses and have some fun with this great handling car you have and you will learn a few things too about handling, drifting and so forth.Congratulations on your new car!!!

First, even though someone may think your inexperienced as a driver, you seem very smart because you have shown people that as a first time driver you wont be stupid and drive like a mad man. Second, did you know that 15 year old "BOYS" are responsible for ALL of first time drivers having to pay monsterous amounts in car insurance because of their immaturity??? Third, girls are naturally more responsible behind the wheel, and thats why your insurance rates will always be cheaper. Finally, don't let any pimpled faced 15 year old boy lecture you badly about driving expierience, my friend that is an EMT has scrapped up many a 15 year old so called "MAN with expierience behind the wheel" off the side of a highway. Congrats on your first car, watch out for young punk 15 year old boys out to wreck your day, lol.

From my interpreting none of those vehicles will be the right p.c... in case you want a sparkling vehicle the Honda Civic is tremendous. it is relaxing tocontinual. No convertible besides the undeniable fact that. The civic is cost-useful too. The Honda S2000 is the single i'd like to have if i needed a 2 seater. yet you need to settle for a used one in case you do not have $30 grand sitting round.

im sorry, but fast cars and inexpiereced young drivers is a BAAAAD combination

sure, you say you wont do anything dumb now(cause you just have a permit and not allowed to drive alone yet)
but as time goes by you think that you are an "expierenced"enough driver that youll race

i'm a younger driver, but i've seen experienced drivers make mistakes that i never would have.

while i do think younger drivers have the potential to be more reckless, i think older drivers blow this up. they all complain about young driver accidents, but act like older driver accidents was not the older drivers fault, that they did nothing wrong, and couldn't help it
