I absolutely HAD to find out what the sex of my baby was. I looked at it this way; I have this person coming to be a part of my life FOREVER, I needed to know SOMETHING about them before they got here. Plus, when I went to buy unisex clothing I found that there wasn't really that much. I wanted to be able to buy end of season clearance for next year, which could not be done unless I knew the sex. Also, to decorate the nursery I wanted to know. Of course there are unisex themes, but it just made it so much easier to know ahead of time. Your question about multiples, they MUST determine if you are carrying one child or multiples. With mulitples there are not only risks to the mother, but risks to the babies as well.

I had split feelings about wanting to know if it was a boy or a girl. On one hand I wanted the suprise at birth, but on the other hand I wanted to know so I could be better prepared by getting baby thing specifically for a girl or boy. I ended up finding out, no so much because I wanted to but because during my ultrasound it wasn't half obvious that I was having a boy. In the end it's up to you if you want to find out, no one else can make that decision for you.
As with having more than one, I don't think you can't tell from just looking at your stomach, I would assume that if your were having twins or triplets you would probably be a bit bigger than if you were having just one. I think that can only be found out when you have a ultrasound.

I had both experiences one not knowing and the other knowing. Both experiences were awesome. Either way it doesn't change a thing. Knowing during your pregnancy or at birth. You love that little one so much! You can defenitly find out if there's more than one and they will tell you at your first ultrasound. It's an amazing experience in itself just seeing your baby for the first time through awesome technologies. I hope that you get some great pictures of the ultrasound!

They will have to tell you if there is more than one, because this often will effect the supplements and due date, as many mutliple births are early due to space restrictions within the uterus. Your diet will also need to be adequate for sustaining a healthy mutliple pregnancy. Finding out the sex of the baby has been a great help for me, as it has meant that i can organise myself, I can buy the blue set of draws, not plain white ones, or I can buy outfits that are more gender typed. But everyone is different, I also feel like i can bond more with my unborn baby as I and my partner have choosen a name (not that we have disclosed what it is to anyone else), and refer to him as a him not an it, or just baby. But everyone is different.

I had 2 boys, but I did not know what my first would be. It sucked. I had to live with a lot of green and yellow. Much better to know before hand if you want to plan anything. They also have to tell you if there is more than one and they will. Don't worry.

I chose not to find out the gender of both my babies. I like to have the surprise on the day of the birth.
I think that they would most likely inform you if you were carrying more than one baby because that can be a health issue.

With my first child I waited until she was born to know that she was a girl...With my current pregnancy I asked and they told me. Ultrasounds will tell if you are having more then one... if they dont tell you there your ob will because they have to keep track a little better on you then just a single baby...

Yes, they have to tell you if there's more then one- it's not only to help you prepare for all the extras you'll be needing, but multiples makes you a high-risk pregnancy, so you'd need to be aware of it.
With my daughter, we wanted to know the sex. Not only because it's hard as heck to find neutral colors now a days (every thing's either blue or pink) but also because we just couldn't stand not knowing. I'm sure the surprise of it is nice, but it just wasn't for us to wait. To each his own! :-)

You could very well not want to know how many babies your having, but it's a very good tid bit of info to have so that you may plan accordingly. You wouldn't want to come to the hospital w/one car seat and need 4 more!!
