I ordered a mac recently to replace my very old computer, but I have learned in this time, a whole lot about bitmap and how to use it, I am a pro, and I do a lot of spriting.

what I want to know is is there an equivalent to bitmap/paint for the mac computer Ill be recieving, or rather, how will my bitmaps register on the mac when I transfer all my files?

Common file formats like BMP JPG GIF PNG TGA should read fine on the Mac, they'll probably be opened by "preview", which can also view PDF files. (bye bye Acrobat!)

The equivalent to Windows Paint is Appleworks Paint. You may also find other applications that do even closer to what you want. There are thousands of user-written applications for the Mac.

The Mac was designed to handle "media" that was their purpose, but it depends on the software you use not the computer. If you've purchased the new MAC with the Intel chip then you can run Windows as well as OS X so all your Windows programs will work when you boot the Windows OS.

Just a query, Why bitmaps and not "raw"?

Sounds like the answer is no. All I see is recommendations to download programs. That's not the equivalent of mspaint, it's the equivalent of the programs you would download and install on a PC.
