Not quite, it is the part behind the CPU fan.
And the CPU IS the Central Processing Unit!
Not the computer.
What information do you require?
It is the brains of the computer!
It operates in the microwave frequency!
It has millions of transistors.
It is made of silicon!
What?

As you may notice it, there are many devices attached on the computer motherboards and many users are not capable to make a clear difference between them.
The Central Processing Unit is the brain of the computer. It is commonly known as the CPU or the processor.
However it is not so visible on the motherboard for the reason that a heatsink or/and a fan is attached for a cooling purpose.
Whithout the CPU any system can't run even though it is your cellular phone.
Computer CPU are usable only in computer. Have you already heard about Intel, AMD or Cyrix? These are processors brand name.
A bit information about central processing unit or CPU or processor are available in the http://www.cheap-computers-reference.com/computer-CPU-part.html site where you can learn more if needed.

To add another possible answer to your question: If you're trying to find the processor type and speed in your machine, in windows, click start button, then right-click "My Computer", then click "Properties", and a tab will come up with system info on it. I hope this helps.
