they lost both coordinators plus a number of other assistants. and...marty got fired after things didn't work out with the GM. what's next for the chargers?

honestly, they should have done this after the loss to NE. The rift between Marty and AJ Smith was obvious. Marty was not going to come back for 2008, win or lose, so he would have been a lame duck coach this season.
An NFL team definitely does not want to have a lame duck coach because they are not looking ahead to the future of the team.
That being said, the Chargers should have done this a month ago, and kept either Wade Phillips or Cam Cameron as the next head coach. They shot themselves in the foot now.

The team is still good. They should be hiring Pete Carrol as the next coach. I also think AJ Smith will be fired in the coming weeks.
