I would consider it a sport...I've never done it but it looks pretty hard!

No, but not because I don't realize that it requires great athletic skill if done well. The problem is that most of the time it isn't competitive; the purpose is to motivate the spectators of another sport, not to "win" at the cheerleading itself.

eh...no...cheerleading is a spin off of gymnastics, which is a sport, it is more entertainment than sport, but you won't see cheerleading in the olympics...ever. Kind of has a rap aspect to it too. Nope, definitely not a sport.

Yes and No.
Stand on the sidelines and clapping and cheering? Definitely not.
Competitive cheerleading with tumbles and ridiculous amounts of gymnastics included? Yes.

Doing cartwheels and flips is just as much athletic as running after a ball. In fact, it takes more talent, not that Im a fan of cheerleading, its still far more challenging than kicking a ball.

No. It's mainly motivation for players and spectators.
It's definitely difficult to do, but that doesn't make it a sport.
I mean, Professional Wrestling is difficult and dangerous to do, but it's not considered a sport.
Cheerleading takes talent and skill, but it's entertainment not a sport.
