It really depends on all of the kids in the field. The D-Backs have an impressive rotation with Brandon Webb, Randy Johnson, Doug Davis and Livan Hernandez. But their year hinges on Conor Jackson, Stephen Drew, Chris Young and Carlos Quentin....if all the kids play good they might have a chance in the division.

Yes, but it all depends on how L.A. and San Diego do. Both teams were surprisingly strong last year. The NL West includes Arizona, Colorado, Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco.
Yes, Randy Johnson will win a few key games for the D'Backs; but realistically I would say they are still at least a year or two away from seriously contending again. They'll probably finish fourth with the Colorado Rockies bringing up the rear.
If I had to predict now here's my NL West finish:
1. Los Angeles
2. San Diego
3. San Francisco
4. Arizona
5. Colorado

With or without Johnson, Arizona will contend in the weak NL West. They have a ton of talent -- Drew, Jackson, Young, Quentin...
They may get off to a slow start, but as the season goes on, they will get stronger and better. Whereas old teams like the Giants and even the Dodgers will break down and play worse.

johnson is no longer a lock when he takes the mound -- he
is worth 13 / 15 wins -- they have a lot of good young
talent in the lineup but the pitching after webb / johnson
is not strong enough to contend over full season

I think Arizona has improved their chances with RJ back but I think they need a little more help. I hope that Arizona did not give away too much for a 41 year old arm .

i think of they jus would desire to perhaps eliminate worldwide Peace and Gasol and use the cap area to get some youthful, athletic gamers Kobe remains the ideal SG interior the league and Bynum is now the ideal center. All they want is probably one superb participant to return off the bench and save classes. they might desire to additionally attempt to make a flow for DWill as he might without delay lead them to contenders lower back. i think of they might desire to choose for Jeff green or Nick Batum they elect a 6th guy to attain for them

No, but i do think Johnson will pitch better since he's back in the NL. I think he's too old to do too much though.
