Jose Reyes, SS, New York Mets
Great fielder, hits for power, hits for contact, incredibly fast, and just an all-around great lead-off man.

Everybody hates him, but A-Rod is the most talented player in baseball. He gets held to a higher standard because of the contract, but he puts up numbers every year and will probably retire as the all-time leader in HR. Once he wins a ring people will judge him differently. In the NL it is probably Pujols, who can hit for power and average and is good in the clutch. If you want to include the intangibles you have to look at Jeter, captain of the Yankees, 4 rings, clutch in October, 5 tool player.

all time: Babe Ruth. 2nd best in homers.my fav.
"NOW" AL: Derek Jeter. he doesn't get homers, but he does the litttle things like getting a hit, steal, or bunts for a run.its his leadership. the yanks better win next year.who pays its players the most money in the mlb to make the divisional rounds?
NL. hmmm... I'd say albert pujols. great batting average, lots of homers, and his team won the W.S.

Depends on what you are wanting in best player! The most dominant in the game right now is Johann Santana.Position players i would take any of following 3 in any order.
Pujos Is so balanced and steady
Soriano Best all around player in the league
defense liability somewhat though
A.Rod One bad year and everyone writes him off
He is still awesome and would take him!!

Soriano and Pujos. They would be the 2 tops for franchise players. Arod and Jeter are well established as well though. Give AROD time, just like Peyton needed it.
