well, i don't know why you're saying that. For me, valentines never sucks, getting better each year even i've been married for 10 years. Love is universal depends on how you coped with it.

Valentines not specifically for lovers. It's for everyone, your mom, your dad, your friends and etc. Why sucks? You don't have any special person in life? Well, typical us, as Malays and muslim, not usually celebrates valentines but the points is your "nawaitu". Not necessarily we celebrate valentines we're forgetting our roots. Got it? Just my ten cents opinion.

I agree with Mattzcoz. Everyone has this fantasy in their mind that things are going to be so much more special, so much more romantic and so much more everything. When things don't go as planned, as they often do for alot of folks out there, all you wind up with is a big fight, tears and hurt feelings. Too much emphasis is put on this day and it puts a great deal of pressure on men. Women have higher expectations of men on this day and when they don't deliver, oh well, you know the outcome.
I say make every day with your sweetie special, not just one day.

hey, i know how you feel...i'm only 15, almost 16 and i have never had a boyfriend. the only reason i can think of why i don't is i'm reeeeally shy. i also have a crush who i think might like me back, so i have expectations for v-day (aka d-day lol) that i probably shouldn't count on coming true...i have had my heart broken many times. this is why valentines day sucks. lol

consider this
it is named after a saint of saint Valentino
who died to protect a couple from the church he was burned at the stake

thus we celebrate this date for what reason that love and a promise is stronger than life itself.....also it does not matter if u are with someone or not, but be happy that u breathe air and are alive....u can try this to cheer yourself up
buy roses and just hand them out...make someones day that would not either get something or are disappointed ..who knows what can happen

for me it's cuz I never get anything. That and I have no one to get anything from. I miss those days in Elementary when you had to get all yuor classmates something...that's the only reason I ever got anything. Comercialism about these holidays can make people depressed cuz it's not like the real world

It's like a few other holidays - high expectations; doomed to disappointment.
