Hi, I am 29 and a half weeks pregnant. I have been on bedrest for the past 3 months due to a short cervix.
I was feeling very ill today so went to the emergency room where they did an exam. The doctor said I was 50% effaced and 2 cms. dialated. Then they sent me home. They told me to come back if I have more contractions. I'm only 29 weeks! I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!! I'm thinking I should get a second opinion. I have never heard of someone being discharged at 29 weeks with cervix changes ( i have incompetent cervix due to LEEP procedure) What should I do? I am not thinking straight right now!
Im terrified

I'm surprized they sent you home. I would call another doctor, preferably someone who specializes in pre-term deliveries or has a lot of experience in this area. 29 weeks is really early to be having cervical changes.

When your pregnant the most important part is to RELAX.Don't be jumpy hun, it's ok you'll be fine.I had a even worse condition, my twins came at 16 weeks...i did have a bit of a run-in with the emergency room. They were sending me back home, they told me i wouldn't be ready for a couple more months. Yes come back if any more contractions, good luck with your child!

My goodness!! I had preterm labour with all three of my girls at 28-29 weeks and they kept me in the hosp after giving me tons of meds to stop it and then sent me home on bedrest with meds too. They did not give you anything??? I sure would get a second opinion!!

Yes, i was and then 10 hours later, I went back. In labor.

Anytime you are uncomfortable, go back or seek additional medical attention. better safe than sorry, especially when pregnant. Besides, it's their job to take care of you.

stay in bed with your feet up. no walking period except to the bathroom and kitchen this happened to me at 31 weeks. they will keep you when you get passed 4 cms or your water breaks stay off your feet . keep that baby in as long as possible
