if you are wanting to hook your laptop to yout tv, all you need to do is make sure they both have a S-video connection, then go buy you a S-video cable and hook them up

Your laptop should have come with a cable to go from s-video to tv (if it has s-video). If you are missing the cable, first ask all your friends to have theirs, it's pretty common. About $15 to buy.

To go from vga to video is poor at best, so don't bother if you don't have s-video...
