i have a big decision to make- i want to be a vocalist one day. i have the decision of finishing high school at either a performing arts school or my school, which is very, very academic, but considered a good school. i want to go to new york university for music or musical theatre- which school would they prefer to see on my application?

NYU won't accept you without strong academics (it might be different if you were looking at a conservatory instead of a top university). The only exception I might make were if the arts school were something REALLY strong, like Juilliard, but if it is just an arts high school, you would do better to stick with your academically-strong high school.

if you want to be a singer, i think you're mouth will speak better for you than any resume or transcript could. it would probably be better to get an academic degree since that would get you a better day job to do while you're waiting for your career to take off. i've never heard simon ask any of the contestants what school they went to.
