Hello There,

I own a Dell Latitude. I use it for education purposes. So one day i was sitting in the libary plaaying Counter Strike. All of a sudden my low battery thing flashes and its only been 20-30 minutes? I was like WTH !!! i have never experienced this and when i usually play Counter Strike, My computer withholds about 2 hours of battery power.

I am very fustrated and looking for a new battery on ebay. Please help me figure out the reasons why my battery life is so short. I leave my laptop on 24/7 and most of the time when im home its charging and also overnight. Thank you

you said it yourself. I leave my laptop on 24/7 and most of the time when im home its charging and also overnight. Thank you. Charging your battery longer than it needs to be until fully charged will actually start damaging the life of the battery. And 24/7 ..........ouchy never do that!!!!! worst thing you can do with battery not just for laptops but also anything with a rechargable battery (ipods, cell phones, etc..) Bottom line. When you get your new battery , only charge it to the point when it has reached charge complete or 100% after that you are KILLING THE BATTERY. GOod luck!

Dell recalled a number of batteries. Make sure you check dell.com to see if yours is one. Could be dangerous.

Battery life depends a lot on what's running. Any new programs installed? Any changes to the Power options on Control Panel? Retrace your steps to see if you made any changes.

Or... the battery might be going bad. They only last x number of cycles. It might be that time.

I like to break the problem in half to troubleshoot, and since Latitudes are very common, swap batteries with someone else and see if it dies in the same amount of time.

That will tell you if it's the battery or your laptop.
