Examples of Equal Area projections include the Behrmann Cylindrical Equal Area, Peters,Mollweide, Albers Conic Equal Area, and Lambert Azimuthal Equal Area projections.

Mercator's the famous one but I don't think it's equal-area - for example, Greenland appears far too big. A much more modern one is Philips', which shows how enormous Africa really is. Have you tried such as Wikipedia for this?
