Nurses take care of all the aspects of child birth except for the actual delivery. They make sure everything is in order, moniter all health issues, administer all medications, help in the delivery, once the baby arrives they are handed off to the baby nurses which moniter the baby and take stats and test the child. Then the mother and child move from L&D to the maternity section where they have other nurses that take care of the mothers post birth needs and help out with the baby as needed. They are involved in it all.
