Absolutely I agree! The punishment should fit the crime! Whatever a criminal did to an innocent person, the same type of pain should be inflicted on him! THERE'S NO VENGEANCE OR UNFAIRNESS TO IT!!!

M.K. Gandhi said, 'An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind.'

I'm with him on this one.

I don't support the death penalty:

a) because if it's wrong for one citizen to kill another, how can it be right for the state to kill a citizen, even if they have committed murder?

b) no justice system is perfect and there is always the possibility of wrongful conviction. A wrongly imprisoned person can be pardoned, released, compensated and has a chance to rebuild their life. Once a person has been put to death it is irreversible.

I agree. You are basically saying is it right to kill someone for taking a life and yes it is. When you gotta go you gotta go (as that one comedian once said).

I have a couple of reasons for this one of course being biblical. However the other reason is my main one, where there is life there is hope. Charles Manson has a life sentence because of some nimrod judges, he is still alive to possibly get out today. There are those who need to die, Charlse Ing is another. God gave us a brain and letting psycopaths run aming us is stupid and against what God wants in my mind.

I agree, basically. I've always said, we can debate the deterrent effect of the death penalty until doomsday, but one thing is crystal clear. It deters that particular individual from ever doing it again, and that's enough for me. I'm sick and tired of hearing about people committing murder two or three times. Once should be enough. That's it, that's all!

Yes. Tell me what we do with someone who is already locked up doing life for murder who brutally rapes and murders a female corrections officer? Lock him up? This happened to a coworker of mine when I worked at a men's maximum-security prison. I wish some of you who are so against the death penalty could spend one week inside the walls of a prison to see the type of people we are keeping alive with our taxpayers' dollars. My bet is you would change your mind. Some people can't and won't change. They are a waste of space on this earth.

something from the world wars i think has been forgotten. even in relgious contexts it is said this is our world to shape as we see it should be. if you agree with that then you and everyone else has the right to detrmine wether or not behavior makes a good reflection of the world's image.

I.E. Nazi's don't really fit do they? So we got rid of a hell of a lot of em by blunt force.

Eye for an eye is an argument for the death penalty.

There is a time for killing, such as the case coming up where a man took a 9 yr old child from her home and raped her for days and finally buried her alive. There is true evil in this world and we would be remiss to give it a second chance.

Well I will say that if you murder someone, say you use a gun and shoot them , they should die the same way. Not by sticking an needle in their arm and putting them to sleep. I know that two wrongs doesn't make a right. But in the same breath I must say why should they get to breath our air, not to mention feed them and give them medical care. That is ridiculous.

Agree in a more literal way than the law allows.
