I am looking into getting a tivo. I noticed that the tivo needs to be connected to the internet to download the tv listings, but I have cable internet, not a phone line. How does this work? How would I connect the tivo to the internet?

It's easy to connect to your internet. I have a Tivo Series 2 and there is a USB plug on the back. I bought a small Linksys USB-to-Ethernet device (see link below -- you can get for $29 online) Just plug the USB side of this into the back of your Tivo and plug your network cable into the ethernet side and you'll be all set. You'll need to go into your "Settings" menu on the Tivo menu to tell Tivo you are using a network connection.

Tivo Series 2 has USB ports that will accomodate USB wireless or USB ethernet adapters. You will need an internet router to share your connection with your computer and Tivo. See the tivo webpage for compatible adapters.

if you just have the TIVO like a series2 Tivo acutally comes with an adapter for 65.00 that you plug into it so you can download all the content. I have cable internet and i have vonage service and that works to. So if you dont have an landline phoneline you can plug in the below link is where you can find the adapter.
