I'm currently working in Iraq as a contractor for the evil Halliburton Corporation but when I finish here in July I should have about 118 grand in the bank and thinking about moving to Edmonton for some kind of trucking job in the Oil fields. My question is will the boom in Alberta keep going for a long time or do you think it will come to a grinding halt anytime soon?

Thats a pretty good hunk of cash eh hoser? If you can come down to Colorado they are having a mini oil boom again if Alberta is all petered out.

The job boom in Alberta will be going on for some time and it is well worth the move to that location. Before you go make sure you have the right courses and be prepared to be out in the cold. You don't have to go to the oil patch for a trucking job---drivers are needed all over northern Alberta as well as B.C.

Well, I would say the oilfield here in Alberta is very "soft" right now. Some rigs are still working but a lot of them are down. Everyone in my world works in the oilfield. They say drilling will be way down this year. I'm trying to understand why Alberta is booming because it's usually controlled by the "patch" and it's been quite slow for a while now. The best place to work is still in Fort McMurray, Syncrude isn't slowing down a bit.

I heard the traffic up there is unbelievable because the roads aren't big enough to keep up with all the new people. I would check out the traffic situation on sigalert.com first to see if you can handle it! : )
