I'm looking for the title and author of a SCI FI book. It is about someone who travelled back to prehistoric times. The person was aware not to disturb anything & alter history, however he killed a single mosquito that had landed on his arm. When he returned back to his own time period, the world he knew had changed dramatically; because he did alter history by killing the one mosquito.

After a little snooping on the web, I think what you're talking about is "A Sound of Thunder" by Ray Bradbury. That's a short story, though, not a book, but here's a compilation its in right here :) http://www.amazon.com/Sound-Thunder-Other-Stories/dp/0060785691/sr=8-2/qid=1171332246/ref=sr_1_2/104-7986259-2707918?ie=UTF8&s=books

The Sound of Thunder a short story by Ray Bradbury, of which a movie was made in 2005 with the same title.

According to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Sound_of_Thunder
“"A Sound of Thunder" is a science fiction short story by Ray Bradbury, first published in Collier's magazine in 1952. It was reprinted in his collections The Golden Apples of the Sun (1953), R is for Rocket (1962), The Stories of Ray Bradbury (1980), and A Sound of Thunder and Other Stories (2005). It was later reprinted in The Young Oxford Book of Timewarp Stories. The Locus Index to Science Fiction Anthologies and Collections lists it as the first of the top ten most republished science fiction stories.”

The short story you are talking about was printed in a collection of short stories. When the guy came back, from his dinosaur hunt, he found that the “wrong” president was elected and it was totally is fault. In the original story he didn’t swat a mosquito on his arm, he stepped on a butterfly; this is where the idea for the movie “The Butterfly Effect” came from (as well as chaos theory).

Hollywood has bought the rites to the story from the author’s estate and last decade there was talk about producing a film based on it, but I haven’t seen any sign of the film yet. I’m sorry it has already been produced and condemned by the Christian Community: http://www.christiananswers.net/spotlight/movies/2005/asoundofthunder2005.html
You can find the movie here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0318081/

It may be in this collection of stories on Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/Best-Time-Travel-Stories-Century/dp/0345460944
