Why are all the right wingers so bitter about the huge success of the Dixie Chicks? "Taking the Long Way" has been certified double platinum in the U.S. by the RIAA. It is also triple platinum in Canada, double platinum in Australia, platinum in New Zealand and gold in the U.K. and Ireland. Of all albums released in 2006, Taking the Long Way was the 6th biggest selling disc last year in the U.S. Additionally, “Not Ready to Make Nice” has now been certified a Gold digital single.

Boy talk about ignorance being rampant. The right wing nut jobs here all love to talk about the fact that supposedly they won Grammys for political reasons. Not one category says, Grammy for the best political mindset is.......
If that were the case, I guess the "Country" Grammy award to Carrie Underwood was political too. Bunch of twits.
They won because the music is good. They sold over 2 millions copies of their album. Their songs are popular in the mainstream
Just because most country bumpkins are easily led around by the rings in their noses by the Republican party, does not mean that everyone else is. The only time they like freedom of expression is when it is their version of freedom of expression. No one should else should have independent thought. They act like the 'Borg with the collective mind

And after all this is said and done no one plays thier videos or music in the US. It was the American Grammies remember. How about Carrie Underwood and Rascal Flatts who both sold many more times than the Dixie Chicks did. They were the number 2 and 3 albums in number of sales in 2006 only beaten by "highschoo musical" a disney soundtrack. I dont care about their politics, I am amazed that a group that is an "also ran" in sales and ticket sales is the "big winner". Guess this is just more proof of the farce we call the "Grammies". OMG, this is rich, those chicks are a success? I didn't know that being critically acclaimed in Canada was a good thing for country music. They cannot make concerts in the US because no one wants to see therm, but this apparently is good. Let them perform in other countries, that is obviously what the want. because let's face it, if they didn't trash bush the liberals would just be calling them trailer trash right now. We see how many went to their concerts,
Let the ditsy chick go running into obscurity. I guess killing abusive men is OK but defending your country is an abomination. Their legacy is already written and they are of no consequence,

i'd desire to care much less related to the Dixie Chicks yet i think of they circulate a uncooked deal in us of a of america via doing what individuals say is one in each of their ultimate sources, "freedom of speech". Which would desire to have no longer something to do with good wing or left wing. i think of people whine related to the stupidist issues. I thinke the Dixie Chicks had a superb to their opinion and intensely frankly i'm disgusted with analyzing Bushisms....whilst they're being rewarding for people who submit them they're making us appear like illiterate, redneck idiots simply by fact our president can no longer talk. Sorry yet circulate Dixie Chicks!!!!!

Because it is a sign that America has forgiven them for thier "anti-American" "Bush bashing" comment a few years back. They invested a lot of thier "media payoff money" to ensure they were made an example of, in the case other pop culture icons wanted to start speaking out against the current administration, and therefore sway the youth of the nation's view of the republican party.
By awarding the Chicks a grammy, it says "all is forgiven becuase we are starting to see things your way." and from other countries "You were right." And that scares them. Especailly since the Dem's got control and are starting to investigate how things have been running over the last 6 years.

Because it is all a political statement. It had ZERO to do with talent and all about biased judges and voters making a statemrnt rather than voting for the actual talent like you are supposed to as a Grammy voter. How can they win a country award when 98% of country music fans hate them and country radio won't play them. It's all a crock and totally nothing to do with music.

Because they want everyone to agree with them. They had the Senate and the House and the presidency and the Supreme court and most of the mainstream media and they whinned about "holyweird" and college professors and Michael Moore and that musicians should shut up and sing. Now they lost congress and they will lose the presidency soon and so the Chicks winning just rubs in how they are losing control of everything.

The right wingers is a good term. They have to be 'right' or they are angry and bitter. I love the Dixie Chicks, agreed with Natalie from the beginning and applaud them for enjoying the freedom of speech patriotic Americans defend.
