I've heard that ebay can have good deals- but its just by chance to get a nice one unless you really know a good violin from a not so good one. I highly reccomend the brand Cremona. They are pretty inexpensive and are of good quality- a great beginner violin.

Try the music store. They have many used to buy or you can even see about their student rental program. Try your yellow pages.
You'll hear ebay a lot, however, you really don't know if the condition/ quality is as good as they say.

Go to your local phone book and look up something like Strings. I know there are stores called strings and things all over the country.

I just got one on ebay for 57 (that includes shipping) for my 8 year old son. very nice, includes case, strap, cover, and two bows.
